Farmers and industry impacted by the recent outbreaks of FMD in Germany, Hungary and Slovakia have been supported by Evans’ distributor, Tekro, who are based in the Czech Republic and throughout the region. They moved quickly to deploy their expertise and training resources and ensured that sufficient stocks of Evans FAM 30 and GPC8 were available to help combat the disease. FAM 30 is the original formulated iodine-based livestock disinfectant developed in response to the devastating Foot & Mouth outbreak in 1967. GPC8 is a glutaraldehyde and twin chain QAC-based advanced disinfectant. Both products are formulated with additional supporting ingredients to perform effectively under challenging real world conditions. These products have not only been used to fight disease on farms, but have been used at biosecurity border control checkpoints where national fire brigade and army units have been carrying out the disinfection of animal transport and agricultural vehicles. These checkpoints are essential to limit the spread of the disease and at Evans we are proud that our products were chosen for this crucial role.
There have been no further reported outbreaks of the disease, so the measures appear to have stopped it from spreading. In partnership with Tekro, we believe we played a significant part in this, and it shows that biosecurity must be at the forefront of tackling potential disease outbreaks.
