Bactericidal Washing Up Liquids

Following an update from the Food Standards Agency (FSA) on the use of disinfectants in the food industry, our Microbiology Laboratory has revised our own guidance which explains the use of ‘bactericidal washing up liquids’. It also gives details on the control of cross-contamination using products which pass EN 1276.

  • Cleaning & Disinfection, page 23 makes reference to the 2 stage cleaning process required for non-food contact surfaces, such as worktops, walls, sinks etc, which must conform to BS EN 1276 or 13697 (Evans Est-eem or Evans EC4 Sanitiser).

  • Personal Hygiene & Handling Practices, page 31-34 make reference to effective handwashing with anti-bacterial products that conform to BS EN 1499 (Evans Trigon Plus and Trigon Foam Plus) and the use of hand sanitising gels, which must conform to BS EN 1500 (Evans Handsan).
