Updated 26 April 2023

Avian influenza is a highly contagious disease of domestic birds which occurs worldwide and is currently spreading throughout the UK. The virus appears naturally among wild birds which in turn can infect domestic poultry. Infection can be caused through direct contact with infected birds, as well as contact with contaminated surfaces, therefore the use of an effective and approved disinfectant to prevent disease is essential.

The products and dilution rates below are recommended following the results of tests carried out against a number of Avian Influenza strains. The dilution rates are also the same as the DEFRA (Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs) Approved Poultry Order dilution rates, which DEFRA recommends using in confirmed cases of Avian influenza.
